- Then you will need to know the device name for your network device on macOS. If you want to perform this then type the networksetup -listallhardwareports in the Terminal window. After that tap the enter. You will now see the list of the name and MAC addresses for all network devices.
- If you have your device name then you can find the current DHCP lease time by typing ipconfig get packet en0. Now replace the en0 with your own device name. It will list various information about your connections. By using the DHCP lease time it will be listed next to the lease_time (uint32) option.
- In the DHCP lease time, it will be shown here as a base-16 hexadecimal value. Then you can need to convert these values to a standard decimal number. This connection above has a hexadecimal DHCP lease value of 0x15180. They can converts to 86400, the length of the lease in seconds, which is equivalent to 24 hours.
To Change the DHCP Lease Times On A Local Network:
This is not possible that you can change the DHCP lease time in your device’s network settings. So, It can control by the DHCP server that allocates IP addresses. - Now you can usually connect to your network router by typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 in a web browser. It can easily be connected to the network. - The open PowerShell window is in front of you. Now type ipconfig /release. It will help you to release the existing IP lease and disconnect.
- Then type ipconfig /renew to re-establish the connection. A network DHCP server will issue a new lease at this point.
- In the macOS, you can do this from the System Preferences menu. Then press the Apple icon on the menu bar then tap on the System Preferences.
- By using the System Preferences menu you can press Network. Then select your network connection in the left-hand menu, then tap on the Advanced.
- Also, in the Advanced Network menu, you have to press the TCP/IP tab. Tap the Renew DHCP Lease button to release and renew your IP lease automatically.
- It will take a few seconds to complete. When you completed it then your IP address will update to confirm your IP address. After that, you’ll need to run ipconfig get packet en0 to replacing en0 with your connection. This process is done by using the Terminal app to check the current lease time.
