The very first way in order to quickly hide each and everything is a built-in feature of Windows 10. Just right-tap an empty area of the desktop and choose View and then uncheck Show desktop icons from the context menu as well.

On my computers, I actually like to be able to organize desktop icons as well as be able to hide them all instantly. For that, I basically use a program from Stardock called Fences as well. It permits you to organize your desktop icons through grouping them together actually.

It also has a Quick-hide feature that basically lets you hide all of the desktop items with just a simple double-click of the desktop. You guys can also tweak how icons are hidden in their Settings.

The company also created the app that is called ModernMix that allowed you in order to run Modern apps in Windows 8 on the desktop. something that’s now a built-in feature of Windows 10 as well.

If you use a third-party program or the features already built into Windows 10, then it’s really nice to have the ability in order to make a clean desktop with just a click or two as well.

Hide All Desktop Icons through Group Policy

  • You have to open the Local Group Policy Editor and then navigate to: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Desktop.
  • Now on the right panel, just double-tap on the policy called Hide and disable all items on the desktop.

  • Choose the Enabled option. And then tap on Apply and then OK.
  • After you reboot your PC, all of the desktop icons will then disappear and you are unable to right-click on the desktop any longer actually. If you guys need to unhide the desktop icons later, then just change the group policy setting back to Not Configured as well.

Hide All of the Desktop Icons through Registry Tweak

  • You need to open Registry Editor and then browse to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
  • If the Explorer key does not key, you guys have to create it manually as well.
  • Next, right-tap on the Explorer key in the left-side panel, and then choose New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value
  • Now name the DWORD NoDesktop and then set its value to 1.

  • Finally, close Registry Editor and reboot Windows 10 in order to apply the changes as well.
